What's UGC NET ?
The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET, is the all India level examination Conducted for determining the eligibility for the post of assistant professor and or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges
What's NTA UGC NET ?
Until July 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the UGC NET exam but from December 2018 onwards, National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the UGC National Eligibility Test.
The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of University Grants Commission is known as NTA-UGC-NET.
What's the difference between NET & JRF ?
The NET & JRF exam are same exams.
The only difference is that you need more marks for JRF as compared to NET
The National Eligibility Test (NET), is the gateway to start the career in Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship, therefore,
Those who clear this test will either qualify for lecturership or JRF with lecturership.
What's NET ?
Those who clear or after qualifying UGC NET a person is eligible to apply for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Processor in Universities & Colleges located anywhere across India.
In short you become assistant professor or eligible to become assistant professor after clearing NET.
The lecturership only qualification is called NET.
What's JRF ?
When you qualify for JRF you will be eligible for JRF-Junior Research Fellowship where you will get fellowship (Appro:-28000/M) from the govt. While you do your PhD.(Dr)
If your qualify for JRF then your NET is automatically Cleared and you don’t have to worry about that.
In short after clearing JRF You can choose either a career as an assistant professor or go for research/PhD where you get monthly stipend for as long as 5yrs
NET Vs JRF (IN SHORT)
NET – Lecturership/Eligibility for Assistant Processor. You do not get scholarship but still you can still go for PhD with your own money. To meet expenses you have to pay from your pocket.
JRF – Lecturership & Assistant Processor Eligibility along with Monetary Scholarship (When you Carry your PhD work) ie, You can Do PhD With scholarship after clearing JRF
